This situation has brought very prominent problems: on the one hand, it is very difficult and blind for the downstream industries of flake graphite to choose graphite raw materials suitable for their own products. Enterprises need to spend a lot of time to identify and trial-produce flake graphite raw materials with the same label but different properties from major graphite producing areas in China, which wastes a lot of time and energy. Even though it takes time and effort to determine the raw materials, the fluctuation of some core parameters of each batch of raw materials has led enterprises to constantly revise the source and formula of raw materials.

On the other hand, the upstream enterprises of flake graphite lack the understanding of the demand of downstream enterprises for raw materials, which leads to the single classification and homogenization of products. For example, Alashan League in Inner Mongolia and Jixi in Heilongjiang are both large-scale graphite, which are suitable for preparing expandable graphite. However, due to the different occurrence state of gangue minerals and the regularity of scales, their expansion ratios are very different, and the graphite products they are suitable for are also different.
